We can’t always be altruistic

I managed to get a hard copy of the Spending Review and its various companion booklets last night and have tried to study it, but frankly it was giving me a bad head. So I’ll come back to some of the specifics another time.

I realise that my readers are a discerning bunch who care about society and their fellow human beings, not to mention dogs, cats, lizards, small songbirds and cacti, above themselves. I, however, am a shallow self-centred beast who is out for number one. Therefore I’ve been trying to figure out how the cuts announced yesterday affect me personally. If you want to save yourself the time, effort and crumpled paper to do the same – purely out of curiosity obviously – then I thoroughly recommend this calculator, as produced by the Brethren.
